Lil Wayne has to be one of the hottest new rappers on the block. At age 16 Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr, B.K.A. Lil Wayne had his first debut album The Block is Hot going double platinum and climbing to #3 on the billboard album charts. Lil Wayne earned the 1999 Source magazine award for “Best New Artist”.

 With a couple of failed albums Lil Wayne has managed to come out with more hits. In 2004 he came out with The Carter, often cited as the highlight of his career. The carter sold over 1 million copies making it one of his top albums. In 2006 Wayne collaborated with rapper Birdman for the album Like Father, Like Son making it another hit album.

 With all this success Lil Wayne has had his troubles with the law. In 2007 Lil Wayne was arrested twice and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana and possessing a controlled substance. On January 2008 Lil Wayne alongside two others was stopped by Border Patrol agents, the agent’s recovered marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and 22K in cash. Lil Wayne was charged with four felony counts of possession of narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lil Wayne bonded out of jail and is currently awaiting trial.

 Although Lil Wayne has had his ups and downs, as fans we still support his music and talent. Lil Waynes music tops the charts in online MP3 downloads making him one of 2008’s top rappers. .
